What Are Skin Tags and Milia?
Skin tags are small, soft, skin-coloured growths that hang off the skin. They’re completely benign (non-cancerous) and very common — especially around the neck, underarms, eyelids, and under the breasts. They’re harmless, but they can be annoying if they catch on clothing or jewellery, or if you just don’t like the look of them.
Milia are tiny, hard white bumps that form when keratin (a protein found in skin) gets trapped under the surface. They’re most common around the eyes, cheeks, and forehead. Unlike whiteheads, milia won’t resolve on their own with skincare — they need to be physically extracted by a professional.
Both are quick and straightforward to remove.
How Does Removal Work?
Our therapists use professional extraction and removal techniques to address both skin tags and milia safely and effectively.
The process is quick — most sessions take 30–45 minutes depending on how many you need removed. There’s minimal discomfort (most clients describe a brief pinch), and you can get back to your day straight away.
Your therapist will assess the area at your appointment and let you know if you’d benefit from the shorter or longer session.
How much does skin tag removal cost in Perth?
At Equinox Clinic in Belmont, skin tag and milia removal starts from $150 for up to 6 milia (30 minutes). A full session is $250 (45 minutes).
Does skin tag removal hurt?
Most clients describe a brief pinch or mild discomfort. The process is quick and generally well tolerated.
Do skin tags grow back after removal?
Removed skin tags don’t grow back. However, new ones can develop in the same area over time — this is just the nature of skin tags.
Do I need a GP referral for skin tag removal?
No. Skin tag and milia removal at Equinox is a cosmetic treatment and doesn’t require a referral.
Is there any downtime?
Minimal. You might notice slight redness at the removal sites for a day or two. Most people carry on with their day straight away.
Can I remove milia at home?
We’d recommend against it. Milia sit beneath the skin surface and need professional extraction. Attempting removal at home risks scarring, infection, and incomplete removal.

How do I know if it’s a skin tag or something else?
Your therapist will visually assess the area at your appointment. If anything looks like it needs further investigation, we’ll recommend you see your GP. We only remove benign skin tags and milia.
How many skin tags can you remove in one session?
It depends on size and location. The shorter session covers up to 6 milia; the full session allows for more extensive removal. Your therapist will assess on the day.
Can you remove skin tags around my eyes?
Yes. Skin tags and milia around the eye area are some of the most common concerns we treat. Our therapists are experienced with this delicate area.
Will removal leave a scar?
Professional removal carries minimal scarring risk. Tiny marks may be visible initially but typically fade within a few weeks.
