Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injection
Facial Rejuvenation Therapy

What is PRP Therapy?

PRP Therapy is a natural treatment where a small amount of blood is taken from your arm, then processed in a centrifuge. The processed solution contains a concentration of platelets and growth factors, which stimulate and accelerate the body’s own healing activity. The solution is then injected into the area to be treated, stimulating cell and skin rejuvenation, resulting in firmer, tighter, smoother skin with improved elasticity with clients enjoy a fresh, glowing new complexion and a reduction in visible wrinkles, lines and discoloration.

Why Have PRP Therapy Treatments?

Developed primarily for medical applications, PRP therapy has also has good results in cosmetic applications, for acne scarring, skin rejuvenation and burn scarring. This therapy is one of the most natural cosmetic treatments with no chemical additives or synthetic fillers involved.

As we age, the face naturally loses collagen and elasticity and decreased collagen and poor skin elasticity can lead to fine lines and looser skin. Facial Rejuvenantion therapy tightens and firms the skin by stimulating elastin fibres  in areas such as the neck, upper eyelid and under eyes, face, back of hands and décolletage and can improve  skin tone, texture and colour. It also stimulates the skin’s natural hydration smoothing  lines and wrinkles

What Skin Concerns are Treated by PRP Therapy?

Facial Rejuvenation Therapy is suitable for virtually any area of the body resulting in;

  • Dark circles under eyes
  • Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles such as crow’s feet, lip lines and smile lines
  • Acne scarring
  • Natural improvement of under eye volume loss, skin laxity and dark circles
  • Improvement of loss of facial elasticity and sagging skin
  • Improvement in skin tone, complexion and texture
  • Rejuvenation of the neck and décolletage
  • Rejuvenation of aged and sun damaged hands
  • Hair regeneration and regrowth

What Does the Platelet Therapy Involve?

After the initial consultation and treatment plan, the actual procedure may take 20-45 minutes depending on the areas being treated .Local anaesthetic is  applied to the skin  to numb the skin   and a small amount of blood will be taken from your arm by  one of our skilled cosmetic nurses and  processed to separate the platelets. A very fine needle is used to inject the facial rejuvenation therapy into the area to be treated; the injection itself may be slightly uncomfortable as the injection is intended to produce an inflammatory response stimulating skin rejuvenation. It can also be administered using needling when the whole face needs rejuvenation .

What are the Side Effects?

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks; Immediately after the treatment session, you may notice small pinpricks in your skin where we inserted the needle. Clients also usually experience a tingling/stinging sensation which is quite normal and usually dissipates within a few hours.  You may also have some slight swelling or bruising  and redness at the injection site, for several hours.

All side effects and risks will be discussed in detail at your consultation.

What is the Down Time and After Care Following The Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injection?

Generally, you will be able to resume normal activities immediately after treatment; There are some specific restrictions immediately following treatment and aftercare is extremely important in preventing unwanted side effects of the therapy and to ensure optimal results.

It is recommended that clients avoid:

  • Exercise for at least 24-48 hours after treatment
  • Avoid exposure to the sun
  • Refrain from washing your face for at least four hours
  • Refrain from using saunas and hot baths, as this will increase the swelling and the possibility of bruising.
  • Avoid heavy makeup and skincare products for 48 hours

Detailed after care will be provided following your treatment.

When Will I See the Results?

The immediate effects are swelling from the plasma; once this has subsided you will not see much change at all. Over a few weeks, the therapy will stimulate the growth factors, which encourage collagen growth. Results are visible at 2-3 weeks and improve gradually over ensuing months with improvement in texture and tone. Clients may require multiple treatments to get the desired effect.

Can it be Combined with Other Procedures?

You can combine this therapy with any of the wide range of medical grade, dermal therapies offered including PDO Threads, LED Therapy, Dermapen and LASER Rejuvenation.

Treatment for Hair Loss

What Does PRP Involve for Hair Loss?

This is a natural therapy that involves injections localized in the scalp to slow down hair loss and to stimulate hair growth. By exploiting the  regenerative potential contained in the platelets, this induces regeneration of the hair bulb environment, while increasing blood supply to the hair follicle. As a result, the hair becomes more enriched and stronger, in return enhancing the actual colour and brightness of the hair without any side effects.

Who is the Best Candidate?

Anyone experiencing hair loss is essentially a good candidate for this treatment. This treatment is best used for patients with androgenic alopecia, which is a genetically determined type of hair thinning that typically occurs along the top of the head. In women, this might look like a widening part with normal hair thickness at the back of the head.

When will I See the Results?

For best results, consistency is key. Treatments are typically performed once a month for the first three to four months, and then every three to six months thereafter, depending on the individual patient’s response and results.
